Maturity: I realized popularity was stupid.
I wanted to say "adulthood" but unfortunately some immature adults think that being popular is the best thing. So I picked "maturity" instead.

I like the way you've phrased things... I know you had to do a revision on it, so.. it's cool how you've come up with this piece, and I think it's great how you've defined 'Maturity' in a way that is personal to you, more so with the way you've tied in a concept like 'popularity' in it.

Great piece, I have to say.. it's one that more people should be aware of. :)

Thank you. c:

When I was younger, I tried so hard to fit in, but for some reason, I was just never able to. I also read a lot of books, and one of the books that interested me was the story of a rich, popular girl who was suddenly thrown into a situation where she became homeless, poor, and unpopular, and ended up much more mature and better because of it. It's a lesson a lot of people can learn... Doing something because its popular could seriously hurt them now or later in life.

Oh, definitely.

I'm glad that there are books like that out there that exist... it raises more awareness, no?

That's a fair point...still, most of us seem to be persuaded by popularity regardless. =/

It does, it definitely does. **nod**

I think it's just human nature. Popularity means other people accept you, and humans are a social species and we want others to accept us.

Not necessarily... the way I see popularity is that people are greedy for it themselves and want it too, but that's the cynical part of me. >.>

True! :D

Wise, but I have a doubt: It is such a big deal to be popular over the US? I mean over here (Mex.) we have only hear that problem on the TV.

Of course we are no perfect (not even close) but I always have this little curiosity.

Aside of that, I do believe your point of view is indeed very mature.

Good luck.

Not really that much of a big deal, but this was more aimed at the people that /do/ think that popularity is everything, like teenagers and college students in high school. I'm not sure what it's like over there where you are, but I think all countries have their own pressures -- in the US it's popularity, in India it's pleasing the parents, etc.

Thank you. The "I" in the statement isn't necessarily refer to me, it was just a general statement. ^^
